OH my heart. My soul. It has been completely ingrained into this book and the words that Catherine Cowles has given us with Reckless Refuge. My heart raced, it ached, it swooned and so much more as Shay fought to stay afloat. There is so much that we delve into with this story and it is so intense, raw and twisted. It will keep you on your toes from start to finish. Then you have Brody. Someone who is trying to break away from everything that has been coming down on him in the past year, Shay and him collide in the most epic way. Both running from something, they find solace in each other and their connection is absolutely stunning. What starts out as a boss/employee relationship turned to a companionable friendship where they seem to build a kinship with each other. Soon, that underlying current becomes more and I adored these two together. Shay with her trust in him, to Brody finding a home with Shay.
Even when things implode and every little twist and turn is exposed, it was a rush of intense emotions and jaw dropping moments! I was blown away with the level of twists that keep you on your toes because the way it all played out blew me away! Cowles has mastered giving us a passionate tale with high intense suspense and epic twists that will blow you away.
