I was intrigued going into this one because I saw how jaded Maverick is from the two previous books in this series. Being burned not once but twice would leave a mark and all Mav wanted to do was take care of his girls. Then that first burn walks back into town and all bets are off. No matter how much he fought it, he was drawn to Cricket like a moth to a flame. My heart ached not just for him though but for Cricket in some ways because even though she did him dirty, she had been through the ringer too. There is a lot of push and pull within these pages with just enough drama to keep you on your toes.
