Oh my stars. Where do I begin. My heart is everywhere with this one. The raw emotions, the angst, the passion. This book blew me away and I am still having a hard time coming to grips with it. This author is known for her emotional stories that will rip you apart, but with this one, it really hit home on so many levels for me. I felt what Skylar did. The pain, the hurt, the shame. I felt it to my core. Then you have Danny who while wanting to be more, wanted to start out just being her friend. The way he gets her to open up to him and their banter had me giggling at times. But when she tells him what is haunting her, my heart hurt so much. I cried. I rarely cry and I was full on tears. Even when she tried to push him away, he was always there in some way.
The one thing I really adored is the fact that Danny was so protective of Skylar. How much he wanted to right the wrongs done to her. Stood up for her many times over. You could feel his love for her before he even knew he was in love with her. There are a lot of moments in this book that will make you rage, but it felt real and raw. B. Celeste gave such a brilliant story and I am utterly blown away by it. I highly recommend this one and it is hands down going to be on my top reads for my 2022 lists!
